"For our Summer Term Curriculum Day, Year 2 pupils delved more deeply into learning about Buddhist faith, thanks to a brilliant emersive workshops run by Sakhya and Kavita Prema from BHS Edu.
Our Year 6 pupils have been learning about Buddhist culture, beliefs and values in TPR and during the session they found out more about what being a Buddhist monk entails. The explored some of Buddhism's most holy places and took part in a colourful re-enactment of the Buddha's life.
The children loved having the opportunity to dress up in traditional clothes and handle Biddhist artefacts. They had a go at using the singing bowl, gongs, and blowing the conch shell. They learned about the Wesak festival or Buddha Day and the reason behind why Buddhists are vegetarian. In all, it was an amazing experience for both pupils and teaching staff." Rebecca Thornton, Heath Mount School, Herts.
"As the class teacher of 30 four and five year olds, I know from experience how difficult getting them to sit and focus can be. On entering the hall I knew this wouldn't be a problem because the atmosphere was beautifully set. The range of artefacts and the interactive nature of the session meant the children were fully engaged from the minute they entered the room. The class took a lot away from the workshop telling everyone about what they found out about the subject. My only feedback is that we would have liked to stay all morning!" A Davey Reception Teacher: Moorhall Primary, Sutton Coldfield
"On behalf of all the staff and children at George Street Primary I would like to say a huge thank you for your wonderful Buddhism workshops today.
Your assembly and beautiful displays just grabbed the attention of the children and they particulary enjoyed getting to take part in the workshops and watching their friends dress up. Let me know if you have a feedback form that you would like me to complete. Thank you once again."
